An Interesting Double Post

Wow, almost nothing for weeks, and now I have several things to post. Aside from finally getting my first Retro Review Game Time up, I have a piece of interesting news.

As most of you will (hopefully) know, the business half(meaning companys and reporters only) of the Tokyo Game Show (Japans E3) finished a few days ago, and the show has opened to the public. However, something interesting came out of TGS; a new trailer for Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance.

Be sure to hit the Closed Caption button to get the subtitles. For those who want a quick version, the major draw of the trailer is that Neku Sakuraba, the protagonist of the excellent NDS JRPG, The World Ends With You, makes a fairly significant appearance in Traverse Town. In fact, he seems to be taking part in the Reapers Game (if you don't know what that is, then shame on you. Go buy The World Ends With You.). Given the nature of the Reapers Game, its quite likely that Sora ended up as his Partner, which will end up being fairly massive for both Sora and Neku. Less prominent is Yen Sid giving a bit of spiel on how Sora and Rikus Mark of Mastery Exam will roll, an appearance of Quasimodo and Esmeralda from The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and a rather perculiar scene of Xehanort doing... something... with a Keyblade.

Theres also some gameplay in there, but the actual fighting looks as much to me like Kingdom Hearts Pinball than it ever has. It also seems that the new monsters, Dream Eaters, double up as AR pets, but how they work is something I doubt anyone wants to work out in a hurry.

Okay then, maybe not so quick...
